Nasturtium

As part of the Black Botanicals Series, this piece brings both delicacy and a little bit of humour -with its organic twirly shapes and luminosity, this flower is loved by all.

As the weather begins to warm slightly at the end of winter, Lara’s garden in Riebeek West becomes a carpet of Nasturtiums, which is where this particular specimen was picked.

This flower spent several weeks in the press, after which it was carefully extracted and placed on to the purest black background (BlackBlack Fabriano).

The art of pressing botanicals is a close study of colour, form and composition in nature, and this Nasturtium is no exception. The entire plant with it’s bright blooms is an absolute testament to the wonder of nature.

These prints are beautifully timeless, and profound in their simplicity and vibrancy. The original pressing was scanned at a high resolution, and printed on to Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Satin. We offer framing options… please contact us for details. If framing independently, we advise the use of Artglass where possible… your framer should know how to get hold of it. Artglass is a glass which offers very little reflection… ideal for images with a black background, allowing it to shine without the distraction of reflections.
